Back to School 2013

ART IS AN ADVENTURE THAT NEVER ENDS

So.....we are officially back to school next week and as usual I am overwhelmed with plans and thoughts of things I need to do to get ready.  Below is a kind of to-do list of things I am working on and hope to finish by the end of next week!  Yay!

• Common Core- Go through the Pearson series and try to align my art projects with themes/topics from reading, science or math
• New signs and labels for the art room- I have a bunch to make!!
• Jobs for the art room
• Fine tuning procedures and routines
• Sub folder- Need to have a jam packed sub folder for those times of emergency- Never know when my two year old might break his arm....wait he just did last Saturday!  Man!

UGH!!!!  Tomorrow is the first optional day back at school!  Don't get me wrong, I am extremely excited to begin teaching art at the brand new elementary school, I just know every year I get completely stressed out with everything that I want to have ready and do.  I literally have been on the computer, mainly pinterest, all day getting awesome ideas about how to set up the art room and the theme this year.  I have decided since we are the Pirates, the theme will be "Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt- an adventure that never ends!"  So now i am forcing myself to get off the computer and go actually get stuff done!!!

Our Japanese Art Garden is almost finished thanks to a grant from the Ponte Vedra Education Foundation.
The mosaic we are working on for the wall is based on the famous Japanese art print below!
